چکیده
Abstract Stingless bees (Apidae: Meliponini) provide pollination services to crops and produce high–quality honey. The application of agrochemicals during the management crop pests is an increasing threat pollinators ecosystem they provide. Biopesticides are considered as better alternatives; however, there limited evidence their impact on stingless bees. We evaluated effect most widely used African fungal biopesticide ( Metarhizium anisopliae ICIPE 69) mortality, foraging behavior success bee Meliponula ferruginea under semi-field conditions. Colonies M. were introduced into four 24 m 2 greenhouse compartments containing blooming cucumber Cucumis sativus ) plants. Cucumber plants sprayed with a suspension alongside sterile 0.05% Triton–100–X (control). experiment was repeated three times different growing seasons. Biopesticide did not significantly affect flight activity, flower visitation, pollen foraging, C. fruit set or yield. Forager acquired high number conidia (7,600 ± 54 /bee) immediately after application; significant decline observed in subsequent days. Conidial persistence viability plant surfaces declined There no correlation between conidial acquisition load by forager (657 29 pollen/bee). This study demonstrates that 69 negatively behaviour success, can therefore be safely bee–dependent systems.

Assessment of genetic variation in cucumber ( Cucumis sativus L . ) genotypes
In this research, twenty genotypes of cucumber (Cucumis sativus) were studied that were collected from different geographical regions. The experiment was conducted as a randomized complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications in Greenhouse. Data was collected on morphological features, yield and components of yield of cucumber which include: Total fruit yield per pickling, Fruit number pe...
متن کاملEthyl Methanesulfonate (EMS)-Mediated Mutagenesis of Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)
Ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS) is a stable and effective chemical mutagen. In this study, cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. cv. “Shannong No. 5”) seeds were treated by 1% EMS for 12 h, 24 h and 48 h to optimize EMS mutagenesis and determined median lethal dose of EMS (1% EMS and 24 h) for “Shannong No. 5”. After treated by 1% EMS for 24 h, 541 M1 plants were grown in greenhouse for phenotype investiga...
متن کاملPolymorphom of sexually different cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) NIL lines.
Isolations of polymorphic sequences of two pairs of the NIL lines of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.), which differ with respect to sex, were carried out using the subtraction hybridization methods of DSC (Differential Subtraction Chain) and GDDSC (Genetically Directed DSC). 266 DSC tags were isolated from the entire genome region, and 38 GDDSC tags were isolated from the region containing the sex...
متن کاملPhotochlorophyll Biosynthesis in Cucumber (Cucumis sativus, L.) Cotyledons.
The formation of protochlorophyllide and protochlorophyllide phytyl ester was investigated during etioplast biogenesis in order to study the biosynthetic relation of these two compounds. Protochlorophyllide accumulates slowly during the first 2 days of germination, its rate of formation increases sharply during the 3rd day, and then it decreases. Protochlorophyllide phytyl ester starts accumula...

The possible role of photosynthesis in the mechanism of action of the herbicide acifluorfen (2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy-2-nitrobenzoate; AF) was examined. The sensitivity to AF of cotyledons of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) which had been grown under far red light (FR) and white light were compared. FR grown tissues which were photosynthetically imcompetent were hypersensitive to AF un...
